Last year started with us being “newbies” to the annual Bridal Showcase in January. We we’re expecting a son in March and both of us really wanted to go “all in” and make the cake business our full time job. Well… I guess you could say it worked 🙂
By the end of our debut year we were…
Oh wait… two more things… WE WON THE BEST OF THE KNOT AWARD and WEDDINGWIRE COUPLES CHOICE AWARD FOR 2015!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What could be better than having your cakes in a photo shoot? Thats right… having your cakes in TWO photo shoots. Morning Glory Farms is the setting of our latest shoot and there is nothing better than having professional photographers capture the ever so sweet and delicious (pun intended) beauty of my cakes and bridal desserts in an idyllic setting far more impressive than my iPhone could ever imagine.
Our last photo shoot was at The Vanlandingham Estate with Taken by Sarah Photography working the lens. This time the setting is at Morning Glory Farms and the photography credit goes to Stefanie at sMm Photography. We made a trio of wedding cakes for the Photo Shoot and this time we figured it would be a great opportunity to showcase a few of our favorite bridal dessert options. So, after a quick team meeting we decided to start with a Naked Almond Cake dripping in Chocolate Ganache, Raspberries, Fig, Blueberries, Blackberries, and Strawberries.
Let me tell you a story… Once upon a time, there was a thirteen year old girl that baked her own birthday cake. Years later she moved to Charlotte to study baking and thats where she met a boy. The two fell in love, bought a house, had a baby, and began there very own wedding cake bakery. The bakery started out with just friends and family but grew steadily every year. One day the boy said to the girl “we should add a blog to our site, that way we can show the behind-the-scenes of what we’re doing”. The girl thought it was a good idea and by the next day the official Ella’s Celestial Cakes Blog was up and running.
No blog can be successful without quality content, pretty pictures, and cake right? Well… he can make pretty pictures, she can make pretty cake, where do they get the content from? Thats where the Vendor Spotlight comes into play. For their first vendor spotlight they showcased some behind-the-scenes access to Lily Bee’s Events + Florals and little did they know that was going to lead to a much grander opportunity for them.
Our spotlight this month features one of our favorite wedding venues… The Laboratory Mill. There are countless places in and around the Charlotte area to get married and selecting the right venue is often a the first decision when planning a wedding. The Laboratory Mill has a history that dates back to 1819 and sits in the middle of a 400 acre nature preserve. If you’re looking for the perfect venue for your wedding day check out The Laboratory Mill.
The Laboratory Mill opened its doors 20 years after George Washington left office and is now one of the Charlotte’s best wedding venue’s. We spoke with J Dellinger recently about the history and the features of this incredible wedding venue.
This month our spotlight is on a very chic wedding upgrade that is sure to impress every guest at the party. The same “bee’s” behind Lily Bee’s Events + Floral have recently launched an addition to their growing family business. This months Spotlight is all about Charlotte Chandeliers!
We told you guys all about Lily Bee’s incredible floral design a few months ago and this month we’re shining some light on their exquisite selection of chandeliers. From their stunning Gatsby, Crystal, Rustic, and White Series to their Modern, Pink, Red, and Black Series, Charlotte Chandeliers has the one thing that will set your wedding apart from the rest. Trust us… this is what everyone at your wedding will be talking about long after the last dance.
They brought their first crystal chandeliers to the Queen City at the beginning of 2013 and they were a huge hit from the very beginning (who wouldn’t fall in love with a little sparkling chandelier elegance right?) What originally started out as a Lily Bee’s side option has since blossomed into a full blown company. I talked to Heidi (aka Chandelier addict) recently and got the behind the scenes scoop into Charlotte Chandeliers.
